Members of the public are invited to attend the meeting in person or view and listen to the meeting via simultaneous webcasting on the Internet, and may view an archived version approximately two days after the meeting. Please visit the MLPA website at http://www.dfg.ca.gov/mlpa/meetings_sc.asp for more information. Meeting materials will not be provided at the meeting but will be posted to the MLPA website as soon as they become available.

Public participation: The public will be invited to offer comments on agenda action items. General comments on the work of the MLPA Blue Ribbon Task Force (BRTF), not directed to specific agenda items, will be taken at approximately 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 15 and 8:30 A.M. on Thursday, April 16, 2009. Speaker cards are requested and may be found at the entrance to the meeting room. Note that the public comment period is for comments specific to the MLPA Blue Ribbon Task Force; comments related to other MLPA Initiative activities or groups should be directed to those bodies or MLPA staff.

Meeting Objectives
?? Receive presentation regarding pending military closures and potentially provide guidance to the MLPA South Coast Regional Stakeholder Group (SCRSG) regarding how such areas should be considered when developing marine protected area (MPA) proposals
?? Receive and discuss MLPA Master Plan Science Advisory Team (SAT) water quality guidance document and potentially provide guidance to the SCRSG regarding the design of MPAs and how to take into account water quality when developing marine protected area proposals
?? Receive and discuss report regarding the status of federal and state coordination recommendations and potentially provide guidance to MLPA Initiative staff regarding next steps
?? Receive Draft MPA arrays developed by work groups of the SCRSG and draft MPA proposals developed external to the work group process
?? Receive SAT, California Department of Fish and Game, California Department of Parks and Recreation, and Goal 3 analyses of draft MPA arrays and proposals
?? Potentially provide guidance to SCRSG members regarding the development of draft MPA proposals and the SAT regarding evaluations of draft MPA proposals in Round Two
?? Receive updates on the work of the SAT, SCRSG, and MLPA Statewide Interests Group (SIG)
